How We Calculate Overall Score

Our scoring system uses a transparent 9-factor formula based entirely on publicly verifiable data. No bias, no paid rankings β€” just objective metrics.

Why We Built This System

Choosing a yoga teacher training program is a significant investment of time, money, and trust. We believe you deserve complete transparency about how we evaluate schools.

Our Overall Score aggregates data from four major review platforms β€” Google, Tripaneer, Facebook, and Tripadvisor β€” plus the school's years in operation. By combining these factors with carefully calibrated weights, we provide an objective snapshot of each school's credibility.

Every piece of data we use is publicly available, so you can verify it yourself.

Platform-Based Presence Detection

We treat each review platform as a unit. A platform is considered "present" if the school has either a rating OR reviews on that platform. If both metrics are zero, the school has no presence β€” and neither metric is included in the calculation. Their combined weight is proportionally redistributed to active platforms, ensuring fair scoring regardless of which platforms a school uses.

Example: Platform Presence Detection

School without Facebook page:

Facebook Rating: 0%, Facebook Reviews: 0 β†’ No Facebook presence

Both Facebook factors (12% combined) are redistributed to other active platforms.

School with partial Facebook data:

Facebook Rating: 100%, Recommendations: 1 β†’ Has Facebook presence

Rating counts (9% weight), and review score is floored at 50% via Minimum Contribution Floor.

βœ“

Minimum Contribution Floor

For secondary platforms (Facebook, Tripadvisor, and Tripaneer), if a school has a positive rating, the review count score is floored at 50%. This ensures genuine positive presence is never penalized.

How it works:

2 Facebook reviews (raw: 10%) + positive rating β†’ review score becomes 50%

15 Facebook reviews (raw: 75%) β†’ no change, already above the floor

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

We update school scores regularly as new review data becomes available. Our system periodically checks all major review platforms to ensure scores reflect the most current information.
Schools cannot directly influence their Overall Score. The score is calculated purely from publicly available data on third-party review platforms. The only way for a school to improve their score is to genuinely provide excellent training that leads to positive reviews over time.
We use platform-based presence detection with dynamic weight redistribution. If both rating and reviews are zero on a platform, the school has no presence there β€” and neither metric is included. Their combined weight is redistributed to active platforms. Additionally, if a school has a positive rating on a secondary platform but only a few reviews, the review count score is floored at 50%.
All data used in our calculations comes from publicly accessible sources. You can verify any school's ratings and review counts directly on Google, Facebook, Tripadvisor, and Tripaneer.com.
Google receives the highest weight (38% combined) because it's the most trusted platform. Tripaneer (21% combined) is weighted highly as a specialized yoga training review platform. Years in business (12%) rewards longevity. The rest is distributed across Tripadvisor and Facebook.
No! While the Overall Score is a helpful starting point, we encourage you to explore each school's full profile. Consider yoga style, location, price, accommodation, and specific curriculum.
We apply a 10-point baseline to ensure no school appears artificially low. This recognizes that even newly established schools with limited online presence are legitimate businesses.
Our scoring reflects Google's E-E-A-T framework: Years in Business (Experience), Tripaneer priority (Expertise), four-platform cross-verification (Authoritativeness), and rating-quality weighting (Trustworthiness).
